Hi! My name is Rita. I’ve been a cat sitter with Katie’s Kitty since 2015. When I joined Katie’s Kitty, I was living in Harlem so I initially covered Harlem/Upper West Side (and a few other locations) for a few years, but now I’m in Brooklyn and so I’m part of the Katie’s Kitty Brooklyn Team. 🙂

I initially started taking care of my brother’s cat when he and his wife would go away. They started recommending me to other people and that’s how I got involved in cat sitting, which has been an extremely rewarding experience for me. I have been an animal lover my whole life, and although I love all animals, cats are my favorite. I am very passionate about animal welfare. I’ve been to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary here in New York, and it is my favorite place on earth.

I also have my own kitty, who I’ve had for about 10 years. She is a member of my family as well as my best friend. Because of that, I feel like I can relate to other pet parents who are looking for a cat sitter to take care of their furry children.

I’ve met so many wonderful cats and it has taught me that cats are truly amazing creatures, each with distinct personalities. I would be more than happy to take care of your cat(s) while you are away. As a cat parent myself, who knows that cats need special attention and love when their humans are away, I’m always willing to listen and to cater to your specific needs.

I like to spend time playing with each cat during my cat visits (unless they prefer to be left alone) and petting them, so that they are still receiving a lot of love and attention while you are away. I’m also happy to send as many updates as you desire (with pictures) because that is something that I always want when I’m away. I definitely know that it helps put a pet parent’s mind at ease to receive updates while away. And of course, I spend time doing the basic things such as feeding the cat, cleaning their litter box daily, and making sure every single need is met.

I am fully insured and bonded through Katie’s Kitty, and I’m more than happy to provide you with references. Please feel free to contact me to take care of your cat(s) while you are away or simply to ask me any questions you may have!
